STUTTERING

Definition of a speech fluency disorder:an interruption of the flow of speaking characterized by atypical rate, rhythm, and repetitions in sounds, syllables, words, and phrases.  This may be accompanied by excessive tension, struggle behavior, and secondary mannerisms (ASHA, 1993).

Characteristics: stutters, repeats words, interjects, hesitates and/or prolongs words; speaks too fast, too slow
