Summer ELA and Math Resources
Children need a break in the summer, but it's a great idea to provide opportunities for them to maintain their skills during these months. Below you'll find a list of resources available to students to help them stay sharp in Reading and Math. These are activities that children may find to be very entertaining. I highly suggest that parents take time to view these and share them with their children.
The CR Summer ’23 Reading Incentive
The CR Literacy Specialists encourage all students to keep reading over the summer!
Students who just completed kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to complete the CR Elementary Summer Reading Incentive! The best way to keep children’s’ reading strong over the summer is to read 20 minutes every day. Beginning June 12th, for every day that children read at least 20 minutes, they will record the number of minutes read in a box on the Reading Incentive Log. For every ten squares completed, children will be able to claim awards around our community! Incentives include rewards graciously offered by Mad Golfer Golf Club, East West Karate, Art in the Pod, New Jersey State Museum, Bowlero, and the Crayola Factory. Many thanks to Karen Goppold, HCE Literacy Specialist, for her efforts in creating the rewards log! Download the Reading Incentive at this LINK.
Reading and Writing Resources
Many reading and writing resources shared by the CR Literacy Specialists are included for families to continue to stay active in literacy. Resources and activities include reading and writing calendars, comprehension resources, movement, game links, and more! Click this LINK to find these resources.
Reading Five-in-a-Row Board
Tara Gittelman, HES Literacy Specialist, created a fun activity for students to continue reading and writing in the summertime. Students are encouraged to complete five or more activities on the five-in-a-row board and color each square as it is completed. Download the board HERE.
